A couple of years ago, a colleague at work was discussing politics with me. Though we came from different political spectrums, we respected each other. She shared with me the quote, “A person who is young and is not liberal has no heart. A person who is old and not conservative has no brain.” I believe she attributed it to Winston Churchill. I think it reflects me, so I like it, of course.
When I was a teenager, I remember telling my grandfather that the government should take care of the poor. He responded that he didn’t believe it should. I just didn’t understand his lack of compassion. Many, many years later, I looked back on my own life. I saw that I flourished best when I had to earn it most. My performance faltered when I was given the resources instead of earning them. I realize that success and happiness come from the inside out and not from the outside in.

I just recently created a Twitter account. You can find me at SomeOtherSteve.

Since people are reading this I guess I should put in the usual disclaimers:
The opinions expressed here are those of the person who wrote the post or comment. If it’s a guest post, it doesn’t mean that I agree with the person. I’m used to people not agreeing with me. I’m married. The opinions expressed here are not those of my employer unless my employer happens to agree with them.
To the best of my knowledge, no animals were harmed in the creation of this blog.
